I am currently a senior scientist at ETH Zurich in Switzerland in the Chair of Computational Social Science. I am a computer scientist, yet, I do interdisciplinary research on how large-scale decentralized socio-technical systems can be self-managed. Smart Power Grids is one application domain of my expertise. I have worked on various research projects and published several research papers in this area.
I previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and I was a research visitor at EPFL in Switzerland. I have also gained some invaluable industry experience at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in the USA as a research intern.
I have a very international educational background: I spent the first two years of my PhD at VU University Amsterdam before I move to Delft University of Technology to complete my PhD studies. Earlier, I received a MSc in Internet Computing with distinction from University of Surrey in UK and a BSc in Technology Education and Digital Systems from University of Piraeus in Greece.
